The Eurasier forms a strong bond with the whole family and they love being with their human pack as much as possible.  They do hate separation so be prepared to take them on holiday as well!

The Eurasier is a dog that grows up, unlike most other breeds who retain puppy like qualities till old age.  They were bred to have wolf like tendencies and this trait shows itself by the dog being watchful and reserved with strangers.  There are variations on this theme, which is down to the three different ancestors of the breed, Chow Chow, Keeshond and Samoyed. The breed standard states that Eurasiers have ‘no hunting instinct’ which must be a comfort to the squirrels living near us who wish this fact was true!

Patience and kindness is the only way to train this breed. They are intelligent, and quick to learn and need stimulation to keep their brains active.  They also have an independent streak which shows when they go ‘selectively deaf’" when something more interesting happens.  Both Enya and Kyra have done obedience training, heelwork to music and agility.

Finding the right menu for the Eurasier is an art not a science. They do not tend to be greedy dogs and occasionally can be picky about what they eat.  Strangers offering them treats will see a “have you washed your hands?” look on the dogs face
